MY WIFE WAS ILL, SHE IS RECUPERATING- JONATHAN Speaking at the just concluded media chat, President Goodluck Jonathan said that his wife Patience was ill but she is recuperating. The president said this in response to a question. He said the wife joined him and others for church service sunday morning. His statement contradicts the earlier position of the presidency spokepersons who claimed that Dame Patience was taken to Germany for 'rest'.

NO DIALOGUE WITH BOKO HARAM, SAYS JONATHAN President Goodluck Jonathan has said that there is no dialogue going on between the government and the islamic sect Boko Haram. He stated this on the media chat. He said the sect is still 'faceless' and no one is speaking on their behalf.

IT'S TOO EARLY TO SAY IF I'LL CONTEST IN 2015- JONATHAN President Goodluck Jonathan has said that it's too early for him to announce if he will contest for 'second term' or not. He said that announcing such will heat the polity and generate debates. Besides he says the announcement will distract his government. The president said this at the media chat. He said Nigerians should wait till 2014 to know if he will contest again or not.

BOKO HARAM KINGPIN ESCAPES FROM POLICE CUSTODY A Boko Haram kingpin Mohammed Sanni is reported to have escaped from police custody in Abuja. Sanni was reported to have escaped on wednesday night. But police spokesman Frank Mba in a telephone interview with AIT denied that anybody with such name exists in police custody and that nobody was missing. Sanni was arrested in january alongside with Kabiru Sokoto who escaped but was re-arrested.

US STATES APPROVE GAY MARRIAGE, MARIJUANA Voters in Colorado and Washington in the US approved the first statewide initiatives to legalise the recreational use of marijuana as Maine. Washington and Maryland became the first states to approve gay marriage by popular vote. Colorado governor John Hickenlooper said that 'the voters have spoken and we have to respect their will'
