ACN, CPC, ANPP TO MERGE IN 2014 Indications are rife that the three leading oppositon parties in Nigeria will merge in 2014, according to investigations by The Punch. The Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN), Congress for Progressive Change(CPC) and All Nigeria People's Party(ANPP) have intensified moves to wrestle power from the ruling People's Democratic Party(PDP). The report says several merger talks have been going on since last year. It was learnt that the talks began 3 months after the 2011 general elections. The talks are focusing mainly on the sharing of the political offices. The parties are to adopt a single name. By law, all mergers must take place before 90 days to the General elections. CPC strongman and former FCT minister Mallam Nasir El-Rufai in an interview to an online news agency Premium Times, said the merger is being perfected.
