N5000 NOTE: JONATHAN BOWS, DIRECTS CBN TO STAY ACTION Apparently weighed down by public condemnation and outrage, President Goodluck Jonathan thursday directed the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) to stop further action on the planned introduction of the N5000 notes into the Nigerian economy. The CBN confirmed the directive in a statement. Dr. Jonathan and the CBN have been under flaks from the public and professional bodies over the proposed introduction of the notes. Both chambers of the National Assembly rejected the policy and directed the executive to mandate the CBN to stop the unpopular policy.
