PROTESTS IN LAGOS OVER N5000 NOTE Angry Nigerians Monday matched in Lagos- Nigeria's economic capital- over the planned introduction of the N5000 notes to the economy. The people under the group, Joint Action Forum matched around Agege area chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards with inscriptions such as 'We don't need N5000 note', Sanusi, no to harsh policies, Jonathan, don't listen to Sanusi' amongst others. The protesters were led by Comrade Declan Ihekaire and Ade Richards. Ihekaire used the protest to mark his 44th birthday. This may be the beginning of protests to come against the unpopular policy. The CBN has defended its plan saying the N5000 notes will not lead to inflation. President Goodluck Jonathan had since December 2011 approved the policy.
